KUALA LUMPUR – From 29 July to 17 August, EQ Kuala Lumpur will host a special Chalet Pop-Up event, bringing back the charm and grandeur of the iconic Chalet restaurant. Dating back to the 1970s, Chalet was a flagship restaurant of the then Equatorial Hotel. It fulfilled the dreams of diners seeking a continental affair, complete with live music and theatrical sabayon-making demonstrations. For many, Chalet was their first fine-dining experience, earning a reputation for impeccable service and dedication to haute cuisine.
The Chalet Pop-Up, hosted at Sabayon @ EQ, will recreate the memories of dining in a farmhouse-style restaurant. We indulge in the famed raclette Valaisanne, a luxuriant dish of melted raclette cheese served with new potatoes and cornichons. The classic Swiss cheese fondue (fondue au fromage) is another highlight, offering a rich, creamy delight. For those who prefer meat, the viande de grison (Swiss air-dried beef with pickles) and freshly minced steak tartare are sure to impress.
The special menu features classic Swiss dishes such as the iconic classic Ceaser salad od the cream of wild mushroom housed in a giant rustic country roll. Warm and comfortably delightful at the same time.
Not-to-be-missed Zuercher Veal Emince – a sumptuous dish of sliced veal in a silky mushroom cream sauce served with elegant potato rosti.
In keeping with Chalet’s history, the same plate wares will be used to serve the dishes and only the finest imported ingredients will be used. Entrees include Maine lobster, Norwegian salmon, Zuercher Veal Emince, New Zealand rack of lamb, and Australian wagyu. Iconic dishes such as the canard ala presse (whole roasted duck on the press for two) and cote de boeuf roti ala Anglaise (slow-roasted beef with baked potato, Yorkshire pudding, and bearnaise sauce) will also be available.
No meal at Chalet would be complete without indulging in their legendary desserts. The quintessential Crepes Suzette, prepared and flambéed tableside with a flourish of Grand Marnier, is a timeless favorite. The souffle glace au Grand Marnier, warm strawberry souffle, and velvety sabayon, an egg-yolk crème whisked to perfection, round out the dessert offerings. Each order of sabayon will be prepared tableside, accompanied by the ‘sabayon dance’ performed by the waiters, adding a touch of whimsy to the dining experience.
Prepare to go back in time as EQ reunites original Chalet team members, including chef Krishnan AL. Ramachandran and professional waiters Mohd. Noor Azlan bin Alias and Amerjit Singh, for this special event. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the magic of Chalet once again!

To end dinner with a European flourish, the beloved coffees from the original Chalet will make a reappearance. These include the iconic Café Royale with cognac and whipped cream, Café Calypso with rum and coffee liqueur, and the famed Kafi Luz, a Swiss alcoholic coffee prepared with plum and Williams pear brandy.
“Chalet is one of those places you never forget. The Old World polish and the gravitas of the dining experience is something many gourmets have cut their teeth on. The Chalet pop-up gives us a chance to offer this experience to a new crowd who are hungry for a taste of fine-dining done the traditional way…this pop-up will be akin to seeing a good old friend once more.” – EQ General Manager, Gerard Walker
