We explored the various Ramadhan specials from some of Klang Valley’s established restaurants that offer consistent quality and unique experiences, ranging from steakhouse to fine dining, buffet spreads to vegan Ramadhan specials. There’s something for everyone during Ramadhan 2022, whether you’ve been fasting in observance of the holy month or just want to enjoy the best of what Klang Valley dining scene has to offer. 

Modern Malaysian: Rasa Lama

The team behind Rasa Lama’s champions Malaysian food heritage history, delivering substantial Malaysian dishes with a modern twist. Rasa Lama was launched in 2020, just before the pandemic struck. Within the last two years, Rasa Lama has persevered in the face of adversity and survived the pandemic.

Aneka Rasa Lama is a celebration of a better year ahead. Anticipate offerings of a full-fledged feast – whole lamb on BBQ pit, a slow-roasted with its tender-falling-off-the-bone-meat paired with house-made rosemary sauce. Must-try dishes are gulai daging kersik from north Malaysia, ayam percik Pak Mail, nasi kuning from the Minang culture and of course the nostalgic, Ais-krim Malaysia. They also offer scrumptious range of Raya cookies

Aneka Rasa Lama Ramadan Buffet will be available till 30th April, from 6pm till 10pm, daily.

Kampung Style: Sambal Hijau 

Sambal Hijau began as a modest, basic restaurant in 2004 and gradually grew in popularity after being featured in a cookbook. It is now one of the most well-known Malay eateries, with lines forming throughout the day. Over 80 varieties of kampung (village) Malay cuisine and Minang meals are now available at Sambal Hijau.

This Ramadhan, Sambal Hijau offers 2 Ramadhan sets this year, which are perfect for friends and family dinners. Set Nasi Padang (RM79) for 4 pax consists of some of their signature dishes – Masak Lemak Tunjang, Rendang Minang Paru, Masak Lemak Nangka, Sambal Hijau. Set Ayam Kampung (RM79) for 4 pax features Ayam Kampung Goreng Rempah, Sup Tulang Daging Tetel, Paru Balado, Urab Pucuk Paku and more. Each set comes with rice, drinks and local dessert. 

Operating hours is from 12pm to 8.30pm during the Ramadhan month

Malay Home Style: Restaurant Rebung Chef Ismail

Entering this restaurant is like entering the homes of Chef Ismail and Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar. Decorative dishes, knickknacks, and memorabilia of the type common in Malay houses adorn the walls. Rebung Chef Ismail’s cooking and kampung charm drew in both new and returning clients.

This Ramadhan, their Iftar Ramadhan Buffet includes specialties such as Daging Salai Masak Lemak Ciliapi, Telur Itik Masak Lemak Ciliapi, Serawa Durian, Nasi Kerabu, Pari Assam Pedas and more than 70 dishes  to choose from the buffet spread. There are 10 stalls to tantalize your taste bud.

Rebung Ramadhan Buffet will be available till 1st May 2022, from 6pm to 10pm.

Steak: Maria’s Steakhouse 

For over two decades, Maria Steakhouse, a recipient of the World Top Gourmet Award in 2018 by World Gourmet, has been serving fuss-free, good quality steaks, that is afforable in a comfortable environment.  This family-run business has now expanded to four outlets in the Klang Valley, namely, in Damansara Perdana, Bangsar, Sunway, Suria KLCC, and one in Ipoh.
